Post subject:  Rare Pic

A long long time ago in a far far away website, there was a picture of a Hobie AIRBORNE!! As in totally out of the H2O launched off a huge wave.
I had always ment to go back to that site and get it but now have absolutely no clue where it is in this vast world wide web. Any one seen it know where I can get a copy?

many thanks

Post subject:  I know the picture that you mean - I think

I have a Hobie poster in my workshop that has a flying H-16 with blue and white sails. (I think they're blue and white - I only look at it almost everyday  ) Is that the one you are looking for?

The one I was refering to was actually a black and white from way back but this color one that Mr. miller posted is much better than the one I had originally seen.

Mr. Wider, how large is your poster? Where did you find it?
cause a H U G E poster would be real cool and I think I'd like one.

Mr. Miller thank you for the pic.

Sailing season is almost here in Delaware ;- } <---stoked face!

Post subject:  Where my poster came from

The poster I have is a four-fold out of the center of a Hobie Sailing magazine from around 1980 (?) I used photo-dry-mount and put it on a piece of white mounting board left over from my dark-room and photography days. I will see if I can remember to get a picture of it tonight. Check back here tomorrow.

PS I will be in Chincoteague from July 9 through the 16th if anyone is sailing in that area, like from Delaware, or could be sailing in that area at that time let me know. >;-} <-evil grin face, note similarities to stoked face

I am glad that you liked the picture. I first found it online at www.thebeachcats.com and then later purchased the actual magazine. It was called "The Cat That Flies" and was located in the February 1970 issue of Life Magazine.

I liked how it was an old school 14 without a dolphin striker or trapeze rig. Perhaps they did not land as well without the striker. Enjoy...
