I'm going to buy a handheld vhf and need recommendations on which models work well for the $. Any ideas out there? |

There are many VHF radios out there to pick from...what do you plan to use it for? Anything specific like regattas, RC, scoring, etc, or just ship to ship talk while at sea? |

I'm thinking about doing the Texas 200 and just need it for emergency. I ended up getting a Standard Horizon hx270s that was recommended by a guy. Hopefully it will serve my needs. I have a couple cheap Midland frs radios with earplugs for close range chat that seem to do ok. There's too dang many options. |
