I have some new roommates moving in so it looks like I have to give up one of my garage spots. I am taking the Hobie across the state for my parents to enjoy for a little. Once the wind picks up here I will bring it back and pay for it to stay in storage. In the mean time, she will have to sit outside in the Fla sun. I am picking up a tarp today (anyone want to recommend a size?) so it will be covered with this. I also plan on removing the sails from the sail tube and storing them inside the garage. Any suggestions for storage? Fresh air in the tires and lube up all moving parts? What else? |

I use a 10 by 20 tarp I get from Home Depot etc. It covers her well from head to toe. Tied off with shock cord and it lasts thru probably 2 years. It's a must to protect from the UV! |

I use a 16X20 tarp from Menards that is made of gray vinyl,it cost $80 but lasts many seasons. It looks better than those blue covers that last a season or two.Remember to place some neoprene or something similar over the wear points to prevent the tarp from ripping.Take off your rudder assembly and place it on your tramp.Stretch the tarp long ways along the mast first, than lace the cover like your lacing a shoe wrapping under the trailer.Lift up your boat so the tarp sits under your hulls pinching the tarp between the hulls and the rollers.Keep everything snug.It will look like a tent once you are finished.Covering your boat only takes 20 minute or so.It will shed both rain and snow(not your worry in sunny Florida) and protect your investment from UV rays... Always rap that rascal...for protection... ![]() If I had a nice boat cover,I still would build this vinyl tent to protect the boat cover from the sun. |
