How do I order parts for the Hobie parts and accesories catalog? please don't laugh at me... :lol:

I've had good luck getting parts from Murray's Marine, online. They seem to be very well stocked with parts, at least for the Hobie 16.

Murray's is NOT a Hobie dealer.

Support your local HOBIE dealer. Murray's sells the non-OEM parts wholesale to Hobie dealers, buy local and save the shipping. Murray's even has a (HOBIE) dealer listing page on their website.

Steve (Murray) has done a lot for the industry by making non-Hobie parts available to the masses, is a great supporter of the industry and the local (HOBIE) dealers, but you can't walk in to his store and by a Hobie 16.

I have always had good luck with Surf City Catamarans listed above. Last weekend I even saw Jeremy drive out from Santa Cruz to Alameda to drop off a set of jib cars for a H-16 that was bought from a different dealer. If you don't have a local dealer available he will ship to you.

Just my 2 cents.

The OP didn't ask about buying a boat, but about buying Hobie parts.

Given a choice of ordering online and paying $10 shipping, or driving an hour each way to and from my "local" Hobie dealer, who may or may not have the part I need... for me, in any case, that's a no-brainer.

next time try sending them (your local dealer) an email, or even telephone.
If a part is coming from California, it may as well be from the Hobie factory, and benefit the local dealer.

I have to say that I mainly go to my local dealer. It is nice to have someone knowledgeable about Hobies just down the street from work. It's kind of fun to go in and just BS about sailing. He's also a very knowledgeable fiberglass repair guy and has a ton of very cool projects/repairs going on in the back. Keep in mind if we don't support our local guys they might not be there in the future.

If you don't want to make the drive to a local dealer, I highly recommend Jeremy at Surf City. That guy knows his stuff and bends over backwards to help all of us be it here on the forums, or in placing an order.

I can't resist the temptation to give my "Local" dealer a plug: Aris Tsamis at Mariner Sails in Dallas, http://www.mariner-sails.com. He's extremely knowledgable and has a great selection of parts and accessories. He'll get stuff in the mail to you the day you place your order. If he doesn't have something, he'll have Hobie ship it directly to my house.

The nearest of these three is at least an hour's drive from where I live. Let's see... two hours of my time, three or four gallons of gas... Last time I was at that shop was about ten years ago; I bought an Old Town canoe from them. It hasn't seen water in years.

Possibly related, but the Hobie scene here in New England is mostly kaput. Time was when I enjoyed that long ride to the Hobie shop, but these days not so much. For generic small parts (shackles, line, etc.) there are plenty of local shops.

I guess I am spoiled. My Hobie dealer will ship what I need right out the door the same day. He only charges what it cost to ship the item and I get them within 2 days some times next day. his prices are the same as murrays and he is a phone call away. I Just figured all the dealers knew how to ship stuff

I second the vote for Aris at Mariner Sails. I love to drop in when I can. Aris is a very helpful guy. Anyone who loves old Austin Healys can't be half bad. :D

I use my local dealer here in Memphis whenever I can - like rafe was saying the Hobie "scene" is in a lull but I hope it comes back. So I want to do what I can. Kudos to the Dealer in Myrtle Beach, SC as well. He rented me a set of cat trax for a week when we went to the beach. Its not what he normally does but was very helpful.
