Post subject:  Monterey to Santa Cruz Sail

Hey All, Ive had my hobie 16 for about a year and a half and am ready to do a longer trip. I am trying to sail from Monterey to Santa Cruz, CA and was wondering if any of you have done this trip and/or if it is even feasible. Its about 20 miles and seems like it is very doable with the proper endurance training and safety equipment. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.

Thanks
T

Fleet 240 has a fun sail going the other direction, SC to Moss.

From SC to Monterey would be way easier. Downhill. Whichever way you go, just make sure that you have all kinds of safety gear. Make sure your comm (VHF) gear is on your person. We used to do a race from SC to Monterey, but too many accidents happened, so we just hug the coast and go to Moss now. File a float plan, it's a big ocean out there and not to be toyed with.

I've sailed from Moss to SC almost every time I've done the Moss Landing Challenge.
