Post subject:  Philadelphia - where to sail and where to keep Hobie 16

I just moved to Philadelphia, and I'm wondering if people can recommend good places in which to sail my Hobie 16, and places in which I can keep it. Are there places where I can keep my H16 on the beach for free, and which are also good places for cat sailing? Is there anything like that at Cape May? Open to all suggestions.

Basically I'm looking for anywhere within a couple of hours where there is good hobie cat sailing, and where I can keep my cat on the beach through the season either free or for a small charge.

Welcome to Philly (my condolences). There are lots of places to sail Hobie’s within 2 hour of Philadelphia, depending on what you’re looking for. Ocean access: Most NJ shore towns have beach access for catamarans (by permit). Stone Harbor has a beach at the south end that is free for daily launches. Inland bays: Great sailing on the Barnegat Bay in Bayville, Trixie's Landing/Brennan Concourse. Lakes: In Pennsylvania, Lake Nockamixon have an active Hobie fleet.

Go to http://www.div11.hobieclass.com/ and check out the fleets. Better yet, come to Wildwood on August 14-15 for the Wildwood Classic Regatta. Meet other Hobie sailors and find out where they like sailing best. Check out the NOR http://mysite.verizon.net/HobieFleet443/Wildwood10_NOR%20Rev%202.pdf This is a great event.
