I have just installed the anchor plates on the shrouds...but is it really necessary to install 4 plates on the front crossbar? |

Only if you plan on keeping your boat. |

Hi Splash, I asked about this a few months ago(http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewt ... hor+plates). Basically, we don't need them at the crossbars on our older boats (yours is an 80 or 81, right?) - they're only necessary on the mid 80's and newer boats with lighter construction. |

I have them on my '82. It's a nice peace of mind to have them there. |

1984 and newer is recommended. In 1984 the fiberglass reinforcment at the connection was reduced to lighten the boat. That proved to be an issue. |

Is it really worth drilling 4x4= 16 holes!!! in my hull to install these plates on my 1981 hull (I think because the date is on a plate on the rear cross bar and who knows! if the crossbar and hulls are from the same boat! being a 2nd hand boat...) I want to check for the serial number on the hull just to be on the safe side...but i think they have been painted over... Is there any other signs to tell a hull year? If really is 1981 it is stiff enough with normal plates...anchor plates wont make my boat any stiffer or stronger correct? |
