Has anyone every shipped a Hobie 18 crossbar or any item of equal size? If you have what shipping service did you use and how much did it cost? Did the service pick up from your home or did they pick up? Thanks. |

UPS has a max length of 108 inches and a length + girth maximum of 165 inches. A rear crossbar would fit easily in this; a front one (with the dolphin striker) might. Wrap it in bubble wrap and cardboard. |

Why do so many of the guru's live in Michigan? CentralMichiganSailor shipped me two front crossbars last Fall.... With dolphin stuff and mast bases removed, and everything bubblewrapped, UPS delivered TWO without a hitch. BTW, I am looking for a good front cross bar, if there are any left out there..... FWIW, I purchased a new crossbar that was shipped to me wrapped in several layers of plastic & bubble wrap....arrived with a good-sized ding (something solid / sharp had punched through all the packaging). When I shipped crossbars, I wrapped them and then shipped inside a good cardboard box as well. Gives an extra layer of security and some 'crush space'. Evidently makes a difference. |

i have shipped westin running boards before with UPS, it was $76, about the same size but heavy compared to the crossbar |
