Hey I'm not sure if I want to by one of these still, I kind of see them as training wheels for your cat. I was just wondering exactly how to install the "Mamma Bob" Does it require you to drill into your mast head. Matt Miller is there an electronic version of the instructions for a 16. I know you can just do the bleach bottle thing, I'm just curious. Thanks, Adam |

The float that would be best for the 16 is the 30115 "Baby Bob". Same as the Wave. Installation depends on the mast head. You can install on the old casting or the CompTip version. http://static.hobiecat.com/2010_archive/support/pdfs/30116.pdf |

Thanks for pointing out the support part of the webpage. I didn't know that existed. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The bob stays attached to the mast head forever, or can it be removed for trailering? Will the Mamma Bob fit onto a 16 or do you have to go with the baby bob? Does the Baby Bob provide enough boyancy so that a water tight 16 mast will never go turtle? What are the Bobs made out of? Thanks again for all your help, Adam |

Hobie Dude, There is more then enough bouyancy in the baby bob to keep the 16 mast from turtling (Unless you go over and stand on it and force it under. There is not that much force on the top of the mast to push it under. |

Go with the Baby Bob on a 16. The Mama Bob is pretty big and was designed for the Getaway because of the weight and extra trampolines (windage) that force the mast down. The Mama and Baby Bobs stay attached when trailering. They are roto-molded polyethelyne. |

We just installed a Baby on a 16 mast here in Santa Cruz. The owner tried several times to seal the mast of his fine 1977 H16 but had no luck. The boat turtled several times. We went out today in 12 to 15kts and sun (finally!) to try the new bob out. Sure enough 5 on purpose pitchpoles out of 5 the boat never went turtle. Give a call if you need help with the install.
