The latest Hobie class rules state that: "The tiller extension may be either an extendable or non-extendable design but shall be a single tiller with one end connected to the crossbar in the same location as the factory supplied tiller. NONELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVE TILLER EX-TENSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED ON ALL BOATS WORLDWIDE." Does this mean that aluminum tillers are now legal for racing? The rule says nonelectrical conductive tillers are now "recommended" not required. Thanks, |

Technically, yes, but the reason for the change was to allow carbon fiber tillers. Aluminum tillers get bent quickly. |

the tiller on my then-new '79 H16 was aluminum. too slippery. |

I have an aluminum one.. and it can be slippery.. Just didn't want to pay for the cf one.. heh. |
