Post subject: | How to really bond SOFT GRIP to HOT STICK |
I tried some silicone inside the top part of the softgrip but it does not bond to the hot stick wery well, when I turn the hot stick to extend it the soft grip turns instead ![]() Will epoxy resin do the job wright? Thanks |

one of my customers sprays Hair spray in the grip then puts it on. He has not lost one sense, I'm not sure this is the reason why it stays on, but he swears by it! I covered the hot stick with epoxy resin today... And then pulled the soft grip one... lets see how it bonds...hope it works... Is horrible when you want to extend the hot stick and all you get is the soft grip slipping arround... ![]() |

Post subject: | Superglue! (cyanoacrylate) - or go to the cork ball! |
I have had tremendous success bonding rubber to to carbon/fiberglass using "Super Glue" - cyanoacrylate... It will then be pretty permenant! ... just a thought though, I have used that cork ball on the end for years, every new Hotstick I've had since th 1990's I've put one on... The ball at the end gives you better twisting leverage to set and un-set the stick. I never use a hotstick without one now!... and it epoxies very well to the end of the hotstick. Brian |

Post subject: | The soft grip and the hot stick bonded ok! |
Using epoxy resin! The problem is I did this with the hot stick folded and some resin must of got betwen the 2 parts...as it stuck and would not extend... After clamping down one end and puting some force I can get it to extend...but not fully i think... Could someone tell me the exact measurement of a extended to the max hotsick? Also and most importantly how can I get the to hot stick bars apart? is it possible? To have a look what has gone on in there and try and solve it... Thanks! |

fx3 appears to be 91 1/4" total length fx6 appears to be 117 1/4" we are out of the fx4 in our inventory so I can't give you an exact measure on it, the catalog says 105" but I did not get the same as they did on the rest so who knows, hope this helps Thanks, Brad Stephens www.sunjammers.com Hobie Division 15 Chairman Authorized Hobie/Vanguard/Hunter Dealer [email protected] 850-235-2281 866-sun-jamm Panama City Beach, FL! |

I glued a hotstick together once just like that. I ended up having to cut the very tip off of the hotstick. Just barely enough to cut the inner tube away from the outer tube. I lost a few inches of Hotstick. Hopefully the Epoxy didn't creep down too far. The bummer is that your grip is now glued perfectly to the end. ![]() |

Post subject: | thats what has happened and it has gone down |
the resin has gone down a bit... The hot stick extends when it likes...and with a lot of difficulty... shurely there must be a way to take the 2 poles apart? How are they made? Matt? Heeeeeeellllppppppppppp I have just got into going out on the wire and this troublesom hot stick is making me mad! I cat extend it enough to go out with a confort grip on it... |

The outer comes off the pinned end. You will have to take off the outer sleeve (pinned and glued) and the grip on the other end, then it will come off. This will allow you to clean off the inner part, but the outer part may be more problematic. |

Hairspray and only hairspray. Epoxy is a mess when you want to change grips. with hairspray, just cut the length of the grip and peel it off with no residue. |
