I picked up a Hobie Toy Box and was wondering if it was a good idea to drill some drain holes or something for ventilation. Inevitably, there's going to be moisture in the box from leaks or wet equipment, I want prevent mold or mildew.

I think it comes with holes on the bottom aft.

I put a solar vent from Northern Tool in the top of my sail box since it sits in the sun most of the day. It worked great for about three weeks. Must be like the solar charger my buddy got for his power boat. The fine print said not to leave it out in the weather! WTF? :o A solar device you can't leave outside?

You could leave the lids off while in storage for ventilation. Regardless, I wouldn't leave my sails in there long-term. Bring those inside and store them under a bed or in an extra room if you have one.

Yep - I drilled multiple holes in the flat bottom fore and aft. Keeps it nice and dry. Also, if I back the trailer in too far, the water can find its way out without ripping off the end cap....
