My sons just acquired a Hobie Monocat 12 that is waterlogged. We are trying to remove the deck to take out all the waterlogged foam. We have drilled out all the rivets, but can't seem to seperate the deck from the hull. Anybody have any suggestions? |

This is not a good solution unfortunately. The foam is a structural part of the boat and is bonded to the plastic. You have to tip the boat up on end and let it dry over a long period. Although I have heard many an attempt of your idea, I have never heard a success story. |

Thanks for the heads up, Matt. My son was a little bummed. I don't think it will dry out as it weighs well over double the original 150 lbs listed in the old brochure. It has a couple of cracks in the hull where the rudder mounts, so I'm sure this didn't help any. My boys are now thinking of using the mast and sail to construct an ice boat! When life hands you some lemons, make lemonade!
