Posting an image... Navigate to your image page. Right click the image and copy the "propeties". This must be an image address (url) rather than a url to a page. Click the above image to test and look at properties and address (url). http://media.twango.com/m1/large/0004/d ... cff9ec.jpg Rather than an link to the page it was on. Use the buttons above the post text area to find the proper code. Use again. and you are done. |

Hobie sailing is often considered a sport for the young... But you really only have to be "young at heart" - - - These are pictures of Derr Golladay, at age 83. Having sailed there for 20 years, Derr and his H-14 became established fixtures at our local lake. My Hobie and I joined him in 1998, and for nearly 6 years we were often the only two sailors on the lake. We really enjoyed our H-14Ts. ![]() ![]() In 2002 (the year this was photographed), I tried to sail on any day ranked better than "slightly above average" (I worked on the other days). But Derr was unstoppable, and was "on the water" nearly every day that summer, even when conditions weren't that good (and sometimes, really not so good). When I asked him why, he replied without hesitation: "Because I never know when it might be my last chance to go sailing, and I'd hate to think I'd missed it." |

What a cool story. I sailed with a guy in SC almost since I learned. His name is Henry Bruner aka "Hinge". He sailed a 14 with homemade sails when we first met. Later bought a Hobie 16. He developed heart problems over the years and was fitted with a pacemaker. Cat sailing would get him so excited the pacemaker would start shocking him uncontrollably and 2 years ago he gave it up. What a great guy, friend and sailor. Miss him on the beach. I will post pics of my 18 next week with all conversions currently finished. |
