I remember when I was about 10 y.o. , my parents used to rent a beach house in Rincon Puerto Rico ( west coast ), and I remember that every once in a while, a big bunch of Hobie Cats landed on the beach on that area. They usually spent the night in the area, and in the morning when I woke up, there were maybe 15 to 25 Hobie Cats along the beach all parked on the sand with those beautiful colorful sails. It was a thrill for me, and I always said that someday I would learn and have my own Hobie Cat. Now I do. If anybody here was ever in one of those groups of sailors, please post here. |

My parents bought one of my first wetsuits at the Hobie Shop on the PCH. in Oceanside, CA in 1980(??) Still have the receipt! Now, I could be making up this next part, but the shop had a couple of Hobie Cats on display, and I was immediately into them. I scored a few rides with my dad's friends. I always stopped in there to get wax. It wasn't until 1994 until I bought my own 16 fresh out of high school.
