Post subject:  visiting San Diego

In about two weeks I'm headed down to San Diego to visit the MFA program at UCSD as well as a buddy of mine. By chance can anyone let me know if and where I might be able to rent a Hobie while I'm down there?

Hobie Cat rentals on Mission Bay in San Diego:

Hilton Hotel
Bahia Hotel
Catamaran Hotel
Paradise Island
Islandia Hotel
Campland
Mission Bay Sport Center

Check with the local dealer who is right on the water... Fast Lane Sailing (619)222-0766 They may have other options.

I know the Bahia and the Catamaran Hotels have recent Hobie 16s and Getaways. Maybe Waves. The Paradise Island has Waves. The Mission Bay Sport Center has Getaways.

What is the program you are seeing at UCSD? What do you normally sail? When are you going to be here (San Diego)? I may have more sailing options for you.

I'm looking at their MFA program with an emphasis in photography. My primary boat is a Hobie 18, which I've got at Lake Tahoe, but I've sailed a number of boats.
I'm flying down the evening of the 13th until the morning of the 18th.

Options... let me hear'm.

Thanks

Try Mission Bay Yacht Club catamaran fleet. There is a large active group of Tigers, some other assorted cats, my Hobie 20, Wave, Hobie Kayaks... ...Chances are I will be sailing on Sunday. I'm not sure about Saturday. If you want to sail your "own" boat, Mission Bay Sport Center, the Catamaran and Bahia Hotels' rental boats are just a few minuts away. There is always someone looking for crew. The clubs number is 858-488-0501. The club is located at the end of El Carmel Place on Mission Bay, just a few minute north of the roller coaster.
