This tornado (water spout) was caught on our local news stations lakeshore camera (Holland, MI) last friday 9/29/06.

we get spouts around here all the time, they normaly never make land fall. I've been out and tried to run from one only to be heading for another, never got close enough to one to have any problems!

OK, now you've piqued my curiosity - WHAT would happen if you were swept up by one of these? How do you evade them?

I don't think there is anyting you could do it one came down on you, sail real fast, the winds should be killer!
