Hi all,

One of the appeals of the getaway to me taking the family out, sailing, then finding a nice spot and swimming off the boat. I am mostly thinking of lakes in this scenario.

What types of precautions do you all use to prevent the boat from floating/blowing away? Bring an anchor? Drop the sail, or just let it flap? Use righting bag as water anchor? Only proceed in low wind? etc.

Cheers,

Capsize it so you can dive off the upper hull. :P

someone competent to sail the boat should stay on the boat, or you should drop the sails. Not sure how to do that on this boat though.

We do this all the time. We never drop the sail. If their is wind to speak of, we sail, other wise we just heave too.

My buddy just did this test on another friends getaway and it was great….. get on the front tramp, lower and raise the main. it looked effortless. Good idea to keep someone on the boat that knows how to sail and/or have a few extra thick 20' floating lines to toss out in the water in different directions to make sure that if the boat should drift someone would be close to a rope to hold on. I've done this on low wind hot day to cool off, it's a lot of fun! Its really neat to swim under the boat where it's shady and observe the hulls and enjoy a cold one
