how is the work going on the new Hobie Alter 22 Special Edition. Hear it is all carbon fiber self supporting mast entire boat weighs 350 lbs and has those computer controlled hydrofoils. Former Hobie Admiral Gary |

Gary was likely referring to the new Phantom (Google 'Phantom catamaran' and check out Phantom International - nothing to do with Hobie). http://www.phantom-international.com/ No question they really fast, however, they are also really twitchy, and this was from an I-14 sailor, they know about twitchy, and swimming. My I-14 buddy said he got a deal, and offered me a half-share in a new Phantom, only CAD$32,000 before freight, taxes, duty. Oh, and that's for delivery in Montreal.... we still have to trailer it 180 km to Ottawa. I have been told that a new leather sofa comes first..... |

The Hobie Alter 22 Special Edition is the boat Hobie should build. I kind of like the name. He was a very nice person even to a guy with a really old 16 in C fleet. |
