What we have now is a vulgar beach event smelling of sunscreen and french fries. This is definitely NOT the Cup. Apparently the next America's Cup is going to be AWESOME!

if the gentleman means has The Cup evolved from an exclusive rarified-air event of the NYYC and Newport genteel types, to an event that attracts and excites ordinary people? then he is spot-on correct. this is the 21st Century, not the 19th Century. if he disdains the mass culture of the current Cup, then I suggest he go back to the polo field. |
