Post subject: | Help with Old Hobie Models |
Hi there fellow Hobie-ers. I'm looking to buy a old Hobie Cat Holder 12 and have 2 options. Both look to be in good condition and include the trailer and all but one is a white hull and the other is a blue hull. I was wondering if there is a difference in the models that the color could give away? Is one newer? Is one of them better? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Here's the link for both: http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/4967468145.html http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/4980006623.html |

Nothing about color would determine type/age/model. |

They both look to be about the same vintage - early to mid-1980's - based on the hull stripe and the sail pattern. Plus they are both "Holder 12" not "Hobie One". Hobie didn't take over Holder until sometime in the late 80's early 90's. More important than age is the overall condition of the boat since any Holder 12 or Hobie One 12 is going to be at least about 20 years old at this point. The later versions of the Holder 12 / Hobie One 12 had some improved features such as comptip, zipper luff mainsail, composite rudder & daggerboard, full length top batten, upgraded boom with internal outhaul. sm |

On the right side of the transom is the serial # The last 2 digits will be the model year. |
