Post subject:  BoatUS / Sea Tow membership for H16?

I recently sold my cruiser and was debating whether to keep my BoatUS membership and reduce it to limited towing and getting the trailer coverage. I'm curious to see what others think about it, or if anyone has had any experiences to offer some insight.

I was told recently by someone with a BoatUS membership that they won't even cover small sailboats (non-powered vessels). You might want to double check that before deciding to continue with your membership.

For the trailer, there's not a whole lot that can go wrong there if you do a half decent job of inspecting/maintaining. Just make sure you have a functioning spare tire and a breaker bar that works for your trailer lugs.

This is not accurate. My new T2 is insured by BOAT/US against loss. It may help that I have been a member since 1984, and have carried (and used) their towing insurance for my power boat every year. I am not aware of an exclusion for towing a sailboat. According to https://www.boatus.com/intuitiveApp/sta ... AButton=01 they offer insurance for "for All Boat Types, Yacht to PWC".

My towing experience with BOAT/US has always (31 years) been good. See http://www.boatus.com/towing/trailerabout.asp for info.
