In the infant stages of planning a bit of sailing from Anguilla - St. Maarten - St. Barth, we will be buying a boat, but it seems all we can find are H16 in the area. Has anyone done this route, or similar by H16 or H18? Not sure how an H16 will fair, so we may hold out for the H18. Route is about 25-30miles, we won't be going for any speed records, but hope to do it in a day or so. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Only very experienced beach catamaran sailors would venture into the open ocean on a trip like that.
I've sailed in those waters on a 44' cat and a 38' cat, and I suggest if you are going ahead, you plan very carefully, with plenty of back up.
VHF radios, EPIRB's, even a chase boat, and advise folks ashore of your ETD and ETA.

A H18 or the Pacifica would be much more suitable.

If you get separated from the Hobie during a capsize, your next stop is either St Croix or Puerto Rico!

I appreciate your notes John, this is still the zygote of trip, so plenty to work out, sound opinions are a good starting point.
