Trying to ship a mast from Chicago area to San Francisco. Anybody have a solution besides lots of $$$ to a shipper? Was going to remove the comptip but with the glue used I have my doubts if that can be done. Thanks in advance. |

It would probably be cheaper to buy a mast or even a whole parts boat in SF than it would be to ship a mast. But if you have to maybe uship.com is a starting point. http://www.uship.com/community/stories/ ... e-country/ Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

I have to agree finding a local parts boat would be cheaper than shipping. Regarding removal of the CompTip, it can be done. You need to heat the mast up quite a bit. The epoxy releases a little bit. Then you need to apply a pulling force in opposite direction. Here is video of CompTip removal on a Hobie 21SE mast. https://goo.gl/photos/mhsn61SG339wHRnm8 |

Bob I'd go local but if you can't uShip is great for consumers. You'd be amazed what guys will work for. I tried my hand at hauling freight and guys work so cheap I couldn't make it worth my while though there. Request a bids for a mast, give em location, dimensions and weight and see what you get. There's a ton of major league shippers on the west coast, you could get lucky and find a guy will to ship for gas money to get back to California that's parked in the Chicago area. |
