I know photos can help but I have no way to upload them. I'm curious as NADA seems to not be accurate on average retail for these boats. Boat needs a new jib soonish. Sailed and everything worked greart. Rigging may need replacement in a while (no ropes are stiff). Mast Bob is missing. Mainsail feels "crisp" some threads do appear to be showing but no rips or tears. Galvanized trailer was included which is in great shape. Some scrapes on the bottom and inside of hulls (likely from the fenders on the trailer I am told. Looks like she just needs a good bath and a good home. $3400 is what was paid. Did we do well? |

You did good! Assuming (you don't mention) the wings are included. Even so, can't get a more fun boat. |

Yup, I think you got a good deal. I have a 2012 Getaway I purchased new, and when you start adding things up, the price gets pretty high quickly. The boat is pretty darn rugged, and a new jib is pretty reasonable, whether you get it from Hobie or an aftermarket supplier. Oh, hey, look in the the For Sale forum, there's a rental place in Miami that replaces the stock Hobie sails and tramps with their own stuff, and sells off the Hobie sails and tramps, or will sell you their (presumably more rugged for the rental trade) sails and tramps. Here's a link: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=60826 I think you'll love your Getaway. I've sailed other Hobie models and a lot of different daysailers and the Getaway is just pure fun. |
