I'm wondering what the need is for a replaceable trap wire handle that can be installed on the wire without removing the swages or demasting the boat for that matter? Used for either replacing broken ones or color coding captain/crew wires. |

I'm not sure I understand your question. The 2 piece screw on handle is used to replace a broken handle without taking apart swages etc. I used one to do just that. I think there would be much easier ways to color code the wires such as a small piece of ribbon tied to them. I never found the need to mark the wires but I never raced. I can see where it might help in the heat of a race. |

I have a 5 piece ABS handle that's very close to the same size as factory ones, is better than the aluminum one if you happen to get hit in the mouth by it, weighs only 35g and glues together with asetone to become a solid piece. Just not sure how big the market is. |

2010 TRAP HANDLE, ALUMINUM ![]() Threads together right over the wire. Easy, but they are a bit heavier than plastic. Don't stretch the bungee and just let them fly. ![]() |

I have seen those Matt, in fact I have one in a tool box somewhere, but after talking with some old racers, they have expressed they didn't like them. One guy even has a chipped tooth from one. They inspired me to come up with these. That photo you posted looks like it may have some rubber over top of the aluminum now. |

Thats pretty clever buxton, acetone melts the pieces together I take it? I would probobly buy a couple for my tool box just for when. Steve C. |
