I have a new to me 1980's Hobie Cat 18 and one modification that has been done to it is a new jib, a Euro Sail. I am not even sure if it is the right size but I will check that later.
My immediate problem is that the jip does not attach to the forestay in front except at the top and bottom. When the jib is entirely unfurled there is nothing to keep it close to the forestay such as the standard zippered jib does.
There is an extra 3/4" flap on the front of the jib that could be wrapped around the stay but I cannot find a clip or clamp suitable. Eurosails website has little information. There are no grommet holes.
Does anyone know what one would call clamps like that or anyone familiar with the type of sail?

Sounds like an aftermarket sail that the builder either didn’t quite know what they were doing or simply forgot to add the zipper. The jib luff needs to be attached to the forestay along it’s entire length or you will not be able to sheet properly or go upwind. I would just take it to a sail maker and have them install the zipper.

Unfortunately I am n the middle of Bavaria and sail makers are rare.

If you're reasonably handy and have access to a sewing machine, you could probably do this yourself. Adding the zipper shouldn't be too difficult, especially since the flap for the zipper is already there.
