Post subject:  H16 to mono or H16 to Hobie Wave?
Hello,

I have been thinking about giving monohulls a chance (after 2 years on Hobie 16).
Anybody here tried that route?

Also, anybody went from Hobie 16 to Hobie Wave and did not feel disappointed?

its going to be hard to move down for most people. why are you wanting to move down, this may help us give some advice,
if your looking for more fun, forget about it,
if you looking for more speed forget about it
They tend to rig easier and stay upright easier.

1. To be able to singlehand it – I do not feel comfortable doing it with H16
2. To help my son learn sailing.
3. To be able to take 3-4 people for a ride from time to time.
4. I brought H16 few times to some inland lakes but was not happy with all the hassle needed to lunch it – I hope: easier lunching=more sailing.

:D Sounds like you have made a good analysis. All good reasons to sail a Wave. At Sail Sand Point in Seattle, we have five Waves and five H-16's. The Wave is the perfect boat to full fill your goals. Many of our experienced sailors love to sail the Wave for a layed back sail, and to take out new sailors. This is what we do in our Fast and Fun free sailing programs. You might want to hold on to your H-16. Great boat should you want to go faster, or enter sailing events.

The wave is a great boat, we sell them for all the reasons you pointed out.
if your wanting to go to a mono hull them take a look at the Hunter 146 or 170, both are great rec boats and easy to sail.

Like someone said above, hang on to that 16, you may miss the speed someday.
