Considering a used 2011 Islander Sail boat in nice condition including tramps for $3.5K vs a new Islander running approx $5K. Are their much differences between the new models and the 2011 model? What about replacement sails or parts? Easy to come by if the old model breaks down the road? Thanks for anyones opinion or facts. . |

The 2010 is a good boat, but the newer one is almost a completely different vessel. More length & width, more sail area, larger displacement amas and hull, fabric on frame seat, etc. At this point it's somewhat difficult to compare the two as they are so very different. Figure the 2010 is sleeker, lighter and perhaps faster under Mirage Drive Power. The later model boat is faster under sail power, drier, more comfortable. |
