Post subject: | Getting Parts from Hobie |
I decided to do some updates to my Tiger, here is what I ordered. 1. New snuffer system. 2. New round boom. 3. New Main, Jib, and Spinnaker. 4. Other misc upgrades. Here is what I got. 1. Snuffer that had obviously been used, it was drilled for rivets and looked as if a sail had been pulled through before. And the attatchment point to the spin pole was cracked. 2. The round boom that I just recieved had the cleat on backwards. 3. Sails I haven't opened yet, waiting for decent weather to get them out. 4. All misc parts arived timely and intact. The snuffer kit I returned. The boom I drilled out the rivets and remounted the hardware. Sails I hope to get out this weekend. Misc parts I have installed. I like the Hobies, and this forum allways proves to be very responsive and helpfull. So I am hoping that these things are checked better before leaving the Hobie facility in California. I have spent a lot on this boat I hope that it continues to be worth it. Please do not use this as a venue to post adversely. I am still pleased with my boat. But I would hope that this may prevent others from this issue. Thanks |

Hello Mike, Sorry you had the issues - As you know these parts all came from Europe, and unfortunately they are not inspected again here most times...just shipped in their original packing from France. The snuffer hoops come pre-drilled - as for the cracking it must have gotten damaged in shipping as they can be a bit fragile...I highly doubt though that it had been used, that is impossible really. I trust that you received the replacement in a timely manner...If there is anything that needs to be done just contact your dealer. Jacques Bernier Hobie Cat USA |
