Here's the description: We are second owners and it has been in storage for past 4 years. Lightly sailed in Long Island sound. Being sold with trailer, hobie trailer tie downs, hobie sails (#87395), rigging, 3 harnesses (2 half, one full), 2 life jackets, oars, tiller extension, upgraded telescopic tiller extension (4'-8'), original book, other accessories, etc. Tip of one hull chipped during transport otherwise is great, lightly used condition. Other photos available. Asking $1950. Here's the craiglist pic if you want to see pics: http://southjersey.craigslist.org/boa/333595396.html I have a picture the seller sent me of the "hull chip". It looks to be about the size of my fist with some cracking around it. I would post the picture but idk how on this forum. I'm guessing it's repairable by pouring some fiberglass on it, shouldn't be a hard job, but idk. With this crack and all, I don't plan on paying more than a grand, so we'll see what happens I guess. Considering it's age and how long it's been sitting, what would you recommend replacing? Comments on condition, price, etc would be greatly appreciated, thanks ![]() |

I don't think it's an 87' My 85' had black anodized aluminum, and I think that was the first or second year Hobie did that. One of the "Matts" would know this for sure. |

That looks to be a pre-85 due to the mast not having a CompTip... with newer sails maybe. All 86 and newer would have CompTip masts. That is all aluminum. Ask for the serial number. That tells the date. |

Same sail color/pattern and number very close to our '84's original. |

That seems to be about right for my area but boats run cheap down here in water world. |

The sail pattern, if they are the original fits the bill for a 1983 prism. If it's an 83... I'd say it's worth way less than what they are asking... I paid $750 for my 82 with trailer. It needed a new tramp and some new rigging.. |

Yeah, I'll chime in on the "older than '84" chant. Looks to have bent tiller arms - they went away in 1984 when adjustable rudder castings were introduced. |

upon further investigation.. thats not the correct rainbow pattern for the 83 prism... I see a different prism option for 87 that matches that.. but I don't see a white sail option... I see blue prism, and 4 nationals prisms, md blue, drk blue, red, and purple prism.. |

Looks like the '86 I just picked up. Hasn't been in the water for 10 years. Except for one cosmetic only hull repair, hulls are near perfect- no dings, cracks, crazing, delams. Original vinyl tramp cleaned up almost like new too, but I replaced the lashing. The sails, which were supposedly stored indoors, were a little dirty and had some staining- cleaned up nicely with some elbow grease (pic taken before I cleaned it up). They are structurally near perfect and still crisp, and now they look almost new too. Doesn't have trap wires or main sheet blocks (got a price reduction from seller that paid for a used set of 6:1 Harkens), or tiller bar. Galvanized trailer and tires also in near mint, and the lights worked! All for $1150. First post here. |
