Here is some video my son took yesterday. We finally got out on the trapeze. He edited out most of the clumsy moments but there are a few in there - like when he slipped and went flying off the back, still hooked on. We did our second pitch pole but the boat survived this one (video link in my signature of the first one). Now that we have successfully gotten the boat upright from being turtled, our confidence is a lot higher. Lots of fun.

We had a double trap setup, but as beginners we only had the crew go out. Great learning experience.

This was at Lake Geneva, in Southern Wisconsin. Very nice lake, though very busy in the summer. Summer is gone, it's cooler out, and the powerboats are not out in large numbers.

What a good video - thanks for posting.
I remember those days....we swam a lot.

1. When you do go over, try to release all sheets, all sails should be 'loose'.
Plan and talk through the recovery, who is going to 'catch' the dolphin striker bars?
2. Do wear sailing gloves, your hands and fingers will thank you.
3. Have you tried YouTube and checked out Joyrider TV, and watched closely how Joe Bennett sets the travelers in mid to high winds.....
4. With more experience, you'll learn how to lengthen the trap lines so crew can 'hang' lower, thereby adding more stability.
This may require more gym time. Carpeting or covering the rails with non-slip helps, as does good footwear.
5. Keep sailing and keep having fun.

and do post more videos....

Thanks John, I appreciate the feedback. We were so worried about the boat going over turtle that we didn't think to release the sheets. I've got gloves and watch Joyrider TV - heck we were featured on the last episode of "show us your cat." My son has gloves but at 20 he is too invincible to wear them, of course. I covered the rails with stick-on neoprene, which is really good. I put my foot on a hull and that was pretty slippery. So yep, we definitely need more experience, and will keep working at it!

There were some other sailboats out but no catamarans. Clearly the other sailors knew what they were doing, but despite our lack of experience we were a lot faster. I think our peak speed per the GoPro was 19 mph.
