Post subject:  Sail advertising

I need new sails for my '86 Hobie 16. A local waterfront restaurant where we sail is considering buying a Hobie (race legal) main if I can get his logo on it somehow. Is this something that Hobie can do or do I need to take to a sail loft somehere? I want it to look good and stay on. Where do I need to look for this? Thanks for your help.

Try a graphics shop, where they do vinyl graphics. I talked to one here about adding logo's for my company onto my sails. The numbers and logos that come on the sails I think are just vinyl. I think he also said they could be printed onto a mylar of some sort as well. I don't remember the details exactly.

If you can whore yourself out for some new free sails go for it.

Chopper,

I won my Getaway at a trade show 4 years ago and it was made up with Hobie sails in white and the Companys graphics in vinal all over them. They have held up well over the years and my sign man uses the same lettering vinal on his outdoor signs and he gaurantees their durability. My sails only have lettering on one side. They also took all of the graphics off the sides of my hulls and used vinal logos there as well and they are also holding up real well. The local dealer said they were a pain and even suggested I remove the lettering but for a free boat (before taxes) I will advertise for them gladley while on the water.
