This August I'm moving from New York to Los Angles. I'll be driving with my 14' in tow and want to stop and sail along the way. I'm under no time pressure. This is my dream trip. Where would be the best places to sail along the way? Thanks for your input. |

Possibly put up a map of your route. |

The route will be determined by the sailing locations, so there is no map. |

Make sure you stop off at Huntington Lake in Central California once you get here, it is one of the best sailing lakes in California, site of the annual Hobie Mile High Regatta |

Why not contact Fleet 204, and stop off in Syracuse for sailing on Lake Oneida. They are a wonderful group of sailors. Then head off to Rochester, where there is another S Club and sail on Lake Ontario. Good luck |

Lake Mendota in Madison Wisconsin. Put in at Tenney Park, sail across the lake and tie up at Goodspeed Pier to have a beer and brat at the UW Terrace. Lake Michigan. Put in at Burnham Harbor in Chicago (if you don’t have a motor, you’re going to either paddle in or out of the harbor depending on wind direction. Sail north to the Loop and Navy Pier. |

WOW! A plug for our Badger State! Thank you! Mendota is nice. College town. Madison is a fun city.Stay away from Lake Geneva. It is VERY busy on the weekends, (During the week is ok, cool old lake mansions), and most don't know the "Rules of the Road". Enjoy your trip! |

My last couple of trips have been on Lake Geneva, but off season. It's a great lake (not literally, we have Michigan for that) but not on weekends in the summer. Put in at Williams Bay, they have a little beach where you can finish putting up your sails. There is a dirt lot just west of the boat ramp where you step the mast. https://youtu.be/WQXUIY0gJz8 |
