Hello everyone, I am new to sailing catamarans and just recently purchased a used Hobie 16. I'm looking for some advise on where to launch from in Lake Conroe, and maybe somewhere I could meet some experienced sailors to help me learn the ropes. Thanks! |

We are a long way from Texas.....otherwise I would offer to help and show you. Why not start by going online to Joyrider TV, and checking out the wonderful videos by Joe Bennett. Begin with 'how to rig'..... |

Ok, Texas-got a LOT of options around, just don't know about L. Conroe as I think most of us sail down in Clear Lake or off the Texas City Dike (Texas City Dike Yacht Club), which by the way is "open". "Members" are those that show up, but they organize events and do all kinds of fun. You want lots of help, get introduced to the sport, etc., the Dike is reliable, second Saturdays. Seabrook sailing club is great for the same, but that is a structured club, etc. Sorry, I don't know of anything closer to Conroe. Some fantastic events are coming up. If you get down to one the day before racing, when others might start showing up (which you can figure out from event organizer contacts), they are usually very happy to help/work and play around. |
