Post subject:  H18 Advantages to sail mod; shorten leach and foot

Bought a used H18. Previous owner had the sail cut, about 6" off the leach edge.

What are the advantages to doing that?

Keeping both hulls in the water more often, if that's considered an advantage. :) Most people that ever do that have great consistent wind, like 15k plus all the time, never feel sorry for those people. :)

Perhaps that section/edge was damaged and rather then buying a new sail, they opted to attempt a salvage.

It was not salvaged. The previous owner said that he had done it on purpose. He used to race.
