Hi folks, i have been offered a 1991 18SX with wings in reasonable condition for 2500 USD does anybody have any idea if this seems like a fair price? i'm new to hobies and there does not seem to be much in the way of 18's and tigers to get an idea of prices thanks for any guidance steve do these help - dont seem to be able to enable html on my profile so these links should show you pics http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/pho ... 2489SMcYFM http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/pho ... 2489hoPAle http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/pho ... 2489VyMmnk i should have said i guess that i am experianced with grp boats and sail rigging so no problem to check for soft spots in the hulls, deamination etc and major issues with standing running rigging. Does anybody know of a particular achilles heel with the 18 that i should lookout for cheers steve |

"sounds" like a steal to me. but w/o seeing boat there is no way to tell. If everything looks good then $2,500 in my area would be a great deal. |

Reasonable is way too broad of a term. It almost seems poor in the Hobie World. Post some pics and you'll have more boat appraisers than you'll know what to do with. ![]() |

Yeah, throw a few pictures our way and we can tell you what it is worth. Also give me the phone number of the seller, I need to talk to him before you do. ![]() |

yea...it sounds too good to be true, so it probably is. If not, it's a steal but definitly check for structural problems (delam). |

This is the same SX that is currently on Ebay and it has 5 bids on it with 4 days left on the acution. The guy claims he sails it with 6-8 people on board. I hope most of those 8 people are 6 year olds. How is it that you were offered the boat on the side? Sounds fishy to me. |

That sure is the same one that's on Ebay Five bids and it is sitting at $2145 (reserve not met) but still has a Buy it Now of $3500. I'll bet either his reserve (his bottom line) is $2500 or could it be you misunderstand his price? Of course folks are always ending auctions early because of local sale- the old "I reserve the right to end the auction early" crap that should not be allowed in my mind. |
