How can I go about fixing this?? The top of the jib was ripped out after a de-masting. Is this something I can personally fix?? Or does it have to be sent off somewhere? If I can fix it what will I need and what will I need to do? Thanks. I've been having to borrow jibs and would really like to get this fixed so I'm no longer dependant on others for their jibs, not that they haven't been very helpful. |

It looks to me like you'll need to do some reinforcing of the head prior to pounding in a new, slightly larger grommet. Alternatively, you could cut the head down a bit, then use nylon strap to attach a small SS ring. Either way, you probably want to have a loft do it. They'll have the tools for pounding in the grommet, the right sized grommet and the machines strong enough to sew it. Hand sewing anything more than a couple of layers of dacron gets to be tedious. I had Chip at whirlwind sails fix my similar break and he did an awesome job. |

Abbman, I have been successful at using tent shops for that type of repair. They have the proper sewing machines and grommets. You may need to supply some sailcloth for reinforcement, they will not have cloth |
