I know you're going to laugh but I've been in Florida a long time and by now my blood is about the consistency of water i.e. thin. This time of year the water temp hovers around the high 60s to low 70s and (I told you you were going to laugh) we wear full wet suits when sailing our 17'. The tourists think we have just landed from another planet when we beach with our bodies completely covered in neoprene while they are barely dressed and think the water is fabulous. I need some booties. Are there ones specifically made for sailing that provide extra traction when out in the trap? Where can you get them on line? Any suggestions gratefully received. |

Check out Annapolis Performance Sailing (http://www.apsltd.com). Most people wear sailing shoes instead of booties. They last longer. |

I've got a pair of scuba booties that have basically a shoe bottom on them. Good arch support which can be nice if you're trapping off of a H16, or wings. I think I got them at Gander Mountain. |

West marine has a clearance section that has Gil dinghy boots and booties. If they have your size, the price is much lower than standard retail. I probably paid twice the amount listed for the same wrap-around booties and like the traction of the shoes. Be sure to get a 1/2 size smaller if possible...the sizes tend to run big. |

I have a pair of the Ronstan race booties, never been cold in them including surfing in january off the west coast of canada. solid sole that is stiffer than a surf bootie good for trapping. I sail 16's mostly as well as 29ers and lasers. if you can try them on before you buy. |

I have a pair of Ronstan Race Boots... without a ziper. they are very warm and sturdy but i need a crane to get them off. I got a pair of zippered scuba booties... dont know the brand and I LOVE THEM. They are very soft, protect my feet, easy to get on and off and comfy. they are not as slip proof on the wire, but work fine. Whichever style you get, i recommend a zipper! makes a big difference. What part of FL are you in? I am at the Dunedin Causeway (Tampa) area and can recommend a spacific shop to get the kind i have if you are local |
