What would you do? In order to expand launch ramp options I bought a windward electric motor mount and an electric motor for the boat. Now I need to apply for title and registration. I have the form. Now I believe ALL H-16's are 16 foot 7 inches. The problem (small one) is that in the socialist state of Maryland 16' and below is FREE. Above 16' it's $24 every 2 years for registration. Now $24 every 2 years isn't much, BUT this IS one of the highest taxed states in the Union, I'm not so accepting to handing over "just a little more". My instinct leads me to just put 16' on the application since it IS a Hobie 16. I'm sure many people who own H16's know nothing of that extra 7 inches, my brain say's maybe I should include that 7 inches. (Of course with our new tax crazy Governor ![]() I guess I should call the local dealer and ask them what they do. Or hey! What about the dealers here? |

The Hobie 16 is considered 16' in length. End of story. |

Better than Texas. Any windpowered vessel 14' or less requires registration and if I am not mistaken, the registration fee is consiberably higher than 24 bucks every 2 years. I am one to almost always follow the letter of the law and get POed at those who don't, but you are in a kinda gray area I suppose........or not. |

We don't need ANY registration unless you put a motor on it...even if it's a temporary electric motor you clip on and off. Another reason to get her registered is we plan to trailer around this year and some places I imagine would give me a hassle without hull numbers. |
