Did Hobie ever make 16"s with wooden rudders? Look carefully at this youtube clip, I would swear those boats have hard wood rudders.

They look like wood. I'd be shocked to learn anyone is using wood rudders though.

The Brazilians hve been building wooden rudders for probably 30 years. Probably originated due to the high cost of replacement rudders (import duties) when rudders regularly broke that long ago.

Those rudders in the video are probably many years old, even though they are on 2004 Worlds boats.

I've seen them before - they're like peices of fine furniture. Strong and stiff.

Not as stiff as EPOs, though.
