Question for Matt Miller Do they/ Did they use the same aluminum extrusion for the H16 and H18??? I'm trying to use some "bent" H16 and H18 masts for a project .... I don't have enough of any one ... but I do if I can use both H16 and H18 as I have two of one and one of the other. Harry |

The 16 extrusion is more teardrop shaped than the 18. I used a 16 section as a sleeve on a 18 mast by cutting off the luff track. They are close but different. |

Yes, they are different profiles. Depending on what the project is... may not matter. |

Thank you for responding Matt and confirming what a previous post had said. Are the extrusions the same wieght/ft??? I'm trying to gather material/parts for a little "homebuilt" cat. The bent masts maybe good for crossbars. some people at our club do not tie their boats down .... thunderstorms like to throw them around ... end result, bent mast!!! Or trees fall on the stored boats in the storage yard ... bent mast!!! I like to be "crafty" and turn junk into "good parts" .... I'm tired of watching "The History Channel". Thanks Harry |

I would expect the 16 mast profile is tougher, thicker and heavier per foot. The 18 was designed to use diamonds. |

Duhhh .... that would make sense. Thank You, Matt for your response .... I do LOVE my H18 .... but the H16 is one TOUGH boat and I've seen them sail through some OUTRAGEOUS conditions where no sane sailor should be !!!! Harry |
