Post subject:  Hobie16 or 17; what's the difference ?

I need a mast for my 16. Found and old hobie in my area (on ebay). Thought it was a 16. Organization selling it (charitable organization donation) says the registration lists the length as 17'6". The mast looks like mine (minus the large dent). Would they be interchangable? It is a comp tip mast and the boat is a 1971. Did Hobie make a 17' back then?

The Hobie 17 was introduced in 1985.

In 1971 all Hobie made was the 14 and 16.

In all liklihood, it is a 16's mast.

A 16's and 17's masts are not interchangeable.
