Post subject:  Knotheads?

Any knotheads here? I mean the kind who tie rope knots.

Got any fast and secure knots you like while going 100 mph and trying to keep everything on the boat?

Never an Eagle Scout and I am just playing around here (and in an uploading mood), but here is a pic of a few of the knots that I find interesting and fun to tie.

Big knot on main tramp is a knife lanyard which is carrick's bend (or double carrick's bend) with extra loops.

One end of the lanyard is tied to the tramp with a reverse half hitch or buntline, which is more secure than a regular half hitch IMHO.

Other end is just a slip knot. If I need the paddle fast, the plan is to pull the slip knot, loosen the lanyard to get the paddle. The lanyard will not go anywhere since it's tied. I plan on using this to beat off any of those FX jet skis that get too close. ;)

Tying link, for hitches anyway: http://www.layhands.com/Knots/Knots_Hitches.htm

that's is pretty cool. I got a knot book a while back as a drawing gift at a regatta, but have yet to crack it. I usually keep a bungie cord on board for stuff like that though.

I like this website's animated knot instructions:
