My hobie rear mast cradle fell off on the way to camp(bungee broke).By the time I figured it out the mast had scratched up the rear cross bar pretty goog.It is only cosmetic damage but the boat is still like new to me(2006) so I want it to still look "Purty".Any suggestions on how to tidy it up. |

Hmmmm, bummer, I feel your pain. About the only options would be paint or powdercoat. I don't think anyone sells a kit to restore anodizing. If you decide to paint it, mask the whole thing off, and spray it the best quality satin black paint you can find. Either that or remove it and bring it to a powdercoating shop to replicate the black satin anodizing. I have wondered if there are better options, as I have some parts on mine that have been scratched as well. ![]() |

mike- There is a place somewhere in Minneapolis that does Mil-Spec anodizing. That's really your only option. The other is just hit it with a sharpy marker. I used to do that to black motorcycle wheels to get them looking good again. |

In the industrial world, touching up anodizing with a Sharpie is standard procedure. They make some that are more robust than the school-supply variety, impervious to sun or chemicals, ultra fine-point, etc... Try an industrial supply house, eg: Grainger or Mill Supply. |
