I have read through the forum about 303 aerospace protectant. Everybody seems to agree this is an awesome product. It is the application of it is where I see confusion. Well, at least I'm confused. ![]() Some people ask whether to use it on top of wax or instead of it; some say do not apply on surface where you will be standing, some do apply it on the top of the hulls and tramps where you are standing; some say it won't last long so you need wax, some say you don't. So why don't we all try to come up with some kind of how-to guide about how to apply it? Like this: 1. Wash your boat. 2. Apply... what wax, 303? forget about it an go sailing? 3. Apply on ... where? sides of your hulls? decks too? tramp? side bars too (they are covered with neoprene)? don't even think about putting it on decks and tramp if you want to stay on your cat? 4. etc... 5. etc... All this bothers me because I'm preparing to move my H16 to a sailing club, on a beach. I want it to stay protected. |

1. Wash 2. Apply 303 3. Sail repeat in two to three months and before you put it away for the winter I use on ALL frp surfaces and the comptip, (I) never put it on metal or trampolene |

If you want an amazing wax for your hulls, use Collinite Insulator wax or Fleetwax, they both last a ridiculously long time, and the hulls look amazing afterwards. |

I've been using a teflon wax from Westmarine that I have had good results with. Very slick finish and long lasting. Its a bit pricey but what isn't at Westmarine. |

You can't beat McLube's new product "Hullkote." I put it on before this year's Tybee 500, and there is still a slick and shiny coat on the hulls. I've used a plethora of different waxes and products from the likes of DuPont, West, Holmenkol, etc, and nothing compares to the slickness and durability of Hullkote. We sailed 600+ miles in this year's Tybee, plus 3 weekend events after it, and it's still there, slick and shiny. www.mclube.com for more info. |

I use Meguier's "cleaner wax". I use the paste stuff and a 9" Milwaukee grinder with a foam pad for application and removal. Lasts quite a while. Pic of freshly buffed boat |
