This past weekend, 15-16 December, there was a Hobie 14-only racing/tuning clinic held at the Gulfport Yacht Club in Florida. We had 6 participants for the clinic; Phil and Jason Sanchez, Cheryl Johnson, Steve Carron, Fred Weidig and Greg Minnaar. Saturday in light air, we were able to execute back-up drills, tacking drills, and leeward mark roundings. Sunday was set aside for short course racing to get a chance to check out their new skills. Even Santa Clause made a surprise visit to warm up before his annual sleigh ride! Herb and Sharon James were in town and Herb was out on the chase boat helping us out on Sunday. Thanks Herb! There might be a few pics and video showing up! I would like to thank Jason Sanchez for getting the word out on Facebook and being the overall spark plug for the event. Next event is at the end of January in Florida. Hope to see more of you 14 sailors register as we prep for the 2019 NAs!!! See you on the course, Bob Curry |
