Hobie Cat’s Mirage Outback Fisherman once again produces big fish off the coast of Southern California. If it wasn’t for the speed and agility of the MirageDrive System there would have been absolutely no way that I would have been able to reach this fish. I had been dropping iron for quite some time and I was about to call it a day, when out of the corner of my eye about a ¼ mile away I had caught a glimpse of breezing yellows feeding on squid that they had pushed up from the deep. The MirageDrive had enabled me make a stealth approach while keeping my hands free to make my initial cast with a scrambled-egg surface iron, all of which would have been extremely difficult (if not impossible) on a traditional paddle yak. Right off the bat I was immediately hooked-up on my first cast! Ten minutes later with what felt like the fish of a lifetime towing me around the pacific, I had finally landed this fine specimen weighing in at a little over 28lbs.
