I have a chance to get a good used set of EPO rudders off of an old 16.

I know they will fit, but what if any sanding or re-drilling will need to be done?

Will I need to sand the leading edge to achieve the proper rake as the aft ends of the 16 hulls are larger than the aft ends of the 14 hulls?

I have the post-83 adjustable upper castings.

14 & 16 use the same hole position - reference the rudder drilling template: http://static.hobiecat.com/digital_assets/rudderdrill.pdf

You may have to sand, or quicker file, the insides of upper and lower castings to get the EPO's to fit. Their girth is wider than standard lexan or white glass rudders.

Nothing to be concerned about, standard practice for original EPO's. Take your time and file off just enough for them to fit, move up and down without binding, and maybe a little extra for rudder shims if you prefer.
