Preface...
I have very limit experience with my 2013 AI, and even less experience fishing from it.
However, I do have 5 years of experience fishing from my 2010 Revo 13 in pretty much all waters including ocean.

My question/issue is mainly concerning the main sheet line that runs behind me, and the mere fact it can get tangled with various lures attached to my fishing rod behind me. I've already had to sacrifice a treble hook from one of my Rapala's when my main sheet line swung near the rod and caught the lure. It then proceeded yank the rod out of the holder, but landed the rod on my port side tramp. Easy recovery of the rod, but had to snip off one of the hooks on the treble. With that, I could not get the barbed tip back out of the main sheet line as it laid in there so perfectly, so it will stay there until it sinks into my hand at some time.

Is there a better line that has been used by others for the main sheet that still grips good in the Harken cleat, runs smooth through the roller blocks, and resists hooks much better than the factory main sheet line?

Or, do I just have to suck it up and be way more careful with my rod storage, and hook location for rod staged lures?

Thanks guys (+gals)!

That's what I do, I never travel with lures attached to the rod, but I use flashers and bait most of the time, which would be ungainly to hang off the rod in any case.

Can't Imagine a line that would be easy to hold in your hands for sailing and not be woven and catch hooks. Hard, smooth... would be hard to hold.

There is a lot of great ideas that have come from this forum, so I figured I'd ask just in case such a rope has been found to work.

No biggy, as my backup plan is to move the stored pre rigged rods out on the aka's and pretty much out of the way of the main sheet.

Google lure keeper. Basically a piece of material with Velcro on the edges. You fold it over the lure and rod, eliminating any hook snags.

I thought about this further... How about a thin walled vinyl tube over the sheets between transom and sail clew? Could be as long as the distance between the transom and clew when the sail is fully sheeted? That may be enough to cover up the lines to prevent hooks from getting to the lines when the sail is furled?

Simple - flatten the barbs on those fish hooks. Not really needed anyway.

Although you are probably right for single hooks, small trebles need the barbs, or the fish can use the leverage from the other hooks to get loose. That does make a point though (no pun intended), I usually don't like using treble hooks anyways. They are only on my Rapala and similar lures.

just found this old thread. Just use the "hook" designed to hold the Miragedrive to capture the furled mainsheet. This will hopefully keep it out of the way.
